General Store - Venice

General Store VeniceGeneral Store VeniceGeneral Store VeniceGeneral Store VeniceGeneral Store VeniceGeneral Store Venice

The General Store in Venice is, like its sister shop in San Francisco, very beautiful. The selection of things which they sell there seem to fit together so perfectly There are so many corners with little plant pots standing on the ground or hanging from the ceiling, beautiful ceramics - woodfired or with beautiful patterns, selected vintage clothes, magazine..and so many other things. It is just one of these stores you want to make sure to check out when you are in the city.

We are back from our trip over a month now and it seems so far away already when I look at all these photos. Is it really June already this weekend, I wonder where are all the weeks this year went to so far.

I am so thankful to have this space here, it keeps me sometimes sane in very busy times, to just show you some photos, to read your comments to get inspired by finding new blogs...

I will show you soon some more recent photos from a hike in the Blue mountains and other things I did...I have many ideas and wish to be soon on my way to make them real so I can show you...

Cortez - a restaurant in LA

CortezCortezCortezCortezLA

We were so lucky to find this gem of a restaurant. While exploring Echo Park and getting some snacks at Cookbook we found out about their restaurant Cortez which we tried out the same night.
A small and beautiful place with long wooden tables and just wonderful fresh food.
The photos above are from our breakfast there. The last photo I took right after our breakfast and it just fit there for me...

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

And back in LA

Los AngelesLos AngelesBurritos in LAYuca's BurritosLos AngelesUntitledThe beautiful Cookbook store in Echo Park

We looked forward to spending some more days in LA before we flew back to Sydney from Spring into Autumn. The palm trees, the magical light before the sun sets, the great places to eat. One of them Cookbook, where we went a couple of times to get a nice pastry or pieces of fruit or just had a look a their wonderful cookbooks they sell. The couple who is running Cookbook also have a wonderful restaurant Cortez but I will show you more about this in my next post.

The Big Sur

Around the Big Sur

When I look at the images I took from the Big Sur and our drive along the coast and see the blurry points in the distance when the sea it melting into the horizon I remember all the moments we stopped and were looking back and ahead and out to the sea, trying to freeze moments, keep them and what we felt in them.

I fell in love with all the beautiful colours there, the different blues of the sea, sky, horizon, greens and browns of the fields, grasses, mountains, rocks....

I felt time can go a lot slower in such places

After spending some days in San Francisco we started our little road trip along the coast towards Los Angeles again. Our first (of the many) stops was Point Lobos where we went for a little hike and enjoyed the beautiful sea, light and landscape.
I hope you are all having a wonderful week so far.

General Store - San Francisco

I am thinking a lot about our wonderful holidays we had in California. The blue sky, bright days and days of wandering through streets, going to museums, eating good food and finding wonderful stores to look around

One of these beautiful places we visited in San Francisco was the General Store.

On our first day and on our last. This wonderful store is very close to the water and sells a beautiful range of things. Both times we had a great chat to the girl who was working in there, were looking through their products and were amazed about the beautiful garden they had created in the back of the store. So many great little corners with succulents and native flowers, a little garden house with plants in it and a table which had shells from the beach lying on it and a little bunch of grasses.

We got two of the screen posters in one of the images and I can't wait to get them framed to put them up in our kitchen.
