And suddenly there was water

I love watching movies and lately I had the pleasure to watch some good movies in the cinema. Thanks to the time before the Oscars there are some particularly good ones out there. We watched the new Coen's brother movie 'Inside Llewyn Davis' which was beautiful cinematography and music, today I saw 'Dallas Buyers Club' which was amazing (sad) and the performance of the both main actors really incredible. I also really enjoyed the new Spike Jonez movie 'Her'. The atmosphere and colours of the movie are amazing and the soundtrack with Karen O and Arcade Fire just beautiful. I could listen to this youtube compilation of some of the movies' tracks for hours. Do you have any movie recommendations, let me know?

Bushwalking in Tasmania

When I got the photos back from the lab and had a look at the bush walk we did on Bruny Island I felt instantly transported back to Tasmania. The colours of the bush landscape are so beautiful, the air so fresh. I adore the wild bushes and flowers and we even saw an echidna on our walk. I was so excited I completely forgot to take a photo it.

Bruny Island and a light leak

UntitledBruny Island - TasmaniaBruny Island - TasmaniaBruny Island - TasmaniaBruny Island - TasmaniaBruny Island - TasmaniaBruny Island - TasmaniaBruny Island - Tasmania

After half a day in Hobart we took the ferry to Bruny island. The sun was shining and we got more and more excited while waiting in line to get onto the ferry which seemed particularly busy before the public holiday. Setting slowly over we could feel how our little holidays were about to beging and how we left the busy city times behind us. On Bruny island we got welcomed by wide meadows, cottages here and there, cherry signs, lots of sheep and more water and sun. After reaching our cottage, which was overlooking the sea and was placed up on a hill, we very quickly unpacked the wine and cheese we bought and enjoyed the amazing view before we got back in starting to make dinner and started the board game adventures.

I am still getting used to my new camera and while being on a bush walk trying to rewind a full film I opened it too early even though I was sure that I had completely rewinded back. Well, I guess also some light leaks have their charme....

Hobart, Tasmania

Hobart, I will always come back to you! It has become a tradition for us to go down to Tasmania over the long Australia Day weekend for a little holiday. It was our third time, this year with three friends staying in a cottage on Bruny island. The day we landed we spent a few hours in Hobart, had a great breakfast, went of course to the amazing MONA museum, which again was mind-blowing and filled up our car with food for four days. I think I could easily spend a whole day just walking around the cute streets of Hobart, such a wonderful place.

A Summer lunch

Summer lunchSummer lunchSummer lunch If you ever come to Sydney, apart from swimming in one of the many pools, please make sure that you also try and get a loaf of Iggy's sourdough bread (in Bronte). It is one of the best sourdoughs I have ever eaten. We are lucky that we have a shop in our neighbhourhood which sells their bread, and it is one of our Saturday traditions to get a loaf, eat the crusty end of the loaf on our way home and make a nice lunch with it. In Summer I love to make a nice broad bean spread which contains, garlic, mint, salt & pepper, olive oil, parmesan and broad beans, which I all pestle to a rough spread in a mortar.
